John Mahoney, President and CEO

John has spent his entire professional career working in his family's firm. After graduating college in 1972, he began as a route driver. Over the next several years he served in a variety of capacities as he learned every part of the business. He became the company's president in 1995, but found time to earn a Master's Degree from Pacifica University in 2005. John is an active member and has served as both officer and director of the National Renderers Association.

Jo Ann Brusa, Ph.D, Chief People Officer

Jo Ann, whose career as an organizational psychologist extends over 30 years, earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Rosary College and her Master's and PhD in the same field from DePaul University. She has been affiliated with Mahoney Environmental since 2004, where her responsibilities have included executive coaching and team development, selection, assessment, training and research. Among other affiliations, Jo Ann is an active member of the American Psychological Association and the Society for Human Resource Management.

Dave Ciarlette, Executive Vice President

Dave has been working with Mahoney environmental for almost 20 years in various financial, advisory, and leadership roles. He is now Executive Vice President and focuses on developing and leading new business directives for the company while being involved in the Senior Leadership and Governance of the company. He has successfully built and managed many businesses and has been on the cutting edge of alternate uses for Used Cooking Oil and other oils. He is a CPA and has spent his career perfecting his understanding of business models and Economic principles.

Brian Conrad, Director of Information Technology

Brian came to Mahoney Environmental after 15 years working in the transportation, logistics, aerospace and manufacturing industries. His career has included strategic planning, development of data centers and networks, and building technology teams that are focused on supporting a company's business objectives. Among other positions, he was Vice President of Business Development and Administration for Challenger Transportation, IT Director for MV Transportation, and Director of IT for Veolia Transportation.

Joe Petrusha, Product Development Manager

Joe began his career with Mahoney Environmental in 1974 as a route driver. He was the company's first salesman for "Mahoney Grease Service" in a territory that included Illinois and half of Indiana. Joe was instrumental in developing the company's current line of recycling equipment and designed and oversaw installation of Preferred Oil systems for a variety of customers.

Rick Sabol, Vice President of Corporate Sales

Rick joined Mahoney Environmental in 2009 as Vice President of Preferred Oil, LLC. In his current role, he oversees sales to national accounts, supplies products and services to Mahoney customers and manages the design, installation and service of oil handling systems. A graduate of Ohio University, with a B.S. in Industrial Technology, Rick has held senior management positions with firms in a variety of industries including TectaAmerica, Shell Lubricants, Ararmark and The ServiceMaster Company.

Jim Schmieder, Vice President of Business Operations

Before joining Mahoney Environmental in 2005, Jim worked in the environmental and recycling industry for most of his professional career. Jim has extensive experience in operations, restaurant services, sales and marketing, and information systems. He earned his B.S. from Oakland University and a Master's degree in Leadership Development from North Central College. Jim is an active member of the Restaurant Facility Management Association, the National Restaurant Association, and the Illinois Restaurant Association.

Brad Schofield, General Manager

Brad has been with Mahoney Environmental since 1993. He joined the company as a regional sales representative and has served as Vice President of Operations and Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Before joining Mahoney, he spent 15 years in restaurant management with a number of national full service restaurant chains. Brad has a degree in Business Management from West Virginia Wesleyan College.

John Setchell, General Manger - Mendota Agri-Products

Starting as part-time field maintenance hand for Mendota Agri-Products in 1989, John has overseen the construction and operations of all of the company's processing facilities. Long at the forefront of the recycling process, John has developed some of the industry's most widespread techniques for extracting the full value of raw materials and turning them into marketable products.

Al Sutherland, Vice President of Finance

Al joined Mahoney Environmental in 2008 after serving a number of financial roles for a large service company. A Certified Public Accountant, Al graduated from Michigan State University and has a Master's in Technology from DePaul University.
